Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga yesterday revealed how he caught President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy, William Ruto, red handed trying to bribe voters using Nairobi Senator Mike Mbuvi Sonko. Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV, the former PM revealed that the flamboyant Nairobi Senator, who he described as notorious, landed in Kajiado with bundles of cash and started bribing voters on the queue in a desperate attempt to deliver the seat to Uhuru/ Ruto’s Jubilee.

He said Sonko tried to buy off some Maasais in Kajiado to vote for Jubilee hard-sell Patrick Tutui, but he will live to remember for the rest of his life whatever befell him. The former PM noted that Sonko’s trick didn’t work because CORD supporters were alert and confronted him and took away his money as an exhibit.

He said his boys even chased Sonko away from Kajiado after CORD leaders pacified them and stopped them from beating him and he ran like a mad dog for his safety. Several other people allied to Uhuru/ Ruto’s Jubilee were arrested in connection to voter bribery and are still in police cells awaiting trial for electoral malpractices.
